简介
Bonus Track "Aquarela Do Brasil" and 16-Page Booklet included on Physical CD ! Produced by Aditya Verma and Lavanya Narasiah, a husband and wife musical team from Montreal, Canada. Lavanya's voice has been described as rich and warm, and the album Dharani-Earth as a unique acoustic blend of her roots in Indian music with incredible arrangements featuring prominent world music artists. Contributing to the diversity of its sound, the songs are in multiple languages such as English, Portuguese, French, Spanish, Hindi, Telugu and Bambara. Lavanya divides her time professionally between her love for music and her practice as a doctor specializing in immigrant and refugee health. This album's story is about the daughter of immigrants from India, growing up in a French-Canadian town, learning and living her cultural roots through Indian music & dance. She was trained in South Indian classical vocal music since childhood from her father. Through her travels, time spent with musicians from around the world as well as her work with refugees, she went on an incredible journey of piecing together musical thoughts, images and emotions which inspired the work of this album. She entered the world music scene over 15 years ago with her Brazilian jazz band performing songs from the 60's & 70's with an Indian twist, and has been invited to sing and record with well known Brazilian artists. *** CREDITS *** Lavanya's husband Aditya Verma, master sarod player and disciple of Pandit Ravi Shankar, went beyond producing this album by helping her compose and arrange many of the songs.
