Kristel Birkholtz (violin) and Rory Gaddin (guitar) A versatile violin and guitar duo, Kristel and Rory weave an enchanting musical tapestry with their acoustic instruments. They have blended their respective musical backgrounds with a fresh approach to traditional, jazz, and classical as well as their own compositions. Rory Gaddin (guitar) and Kristel Birkholtz (violin) have been performing together for a number of years. Both have had solo interests and perform at various events and live music venues. Highlights so far for the duo include performing together on the Rovos Rail Trains ( an historic steam train trip that travels South Africa) and at various arts festival in South Africa. In 2011 the duo made it through to the final round of the Gibson Acoustic Guitar competition, hosted by Tanz Cafe. The Duo has previously collaborated on a CD in 2008 titled ‘Burning Bridges’ which features well-known light classics and movie /popular themes. Recently released is their interpretation of well-known Christmas favourites. The pair felt it would be a lovely touch to add a fresh acoustic touch to well-worn carols . The result is a handcrafted set of traditional carols shaded with nylon and acoustic guitar work and gilded with sonorous violin melodies , a perfect accompaniment to a Christmas dinner or event.
