Marvel are a Portuguese Band that has been getting great reviews all over Europe and Japan in WebZines, Magazines and even some Radio Stations. Winners of the best new band in a competition held by the top audience National TV Station in Portugal and later on winners of Battle of Bands Competition organized by the UK magazine PowerPlay, Marvel takes the natural in step in their career releasing their Full Length album "EVERAFTER" sung in English with German Label Target records. With the harder edge the fans had been wanting the album features the winning song of the PowerPlay Magazine Battle of Bands "FingerPrintz" and the well reviewed "Long Way To Go" both rerecorded specially for this album and 11 other new tracks. This album reflects the Hard Rock, AOR influences of the band giving up the keyboards of the previous Eps in exchange for more guitars and their trademarked harmony vocals in the likes of Harem Scarem, HardLine, DangerDanger or older FireHouse. The band formation includes : Ivan Almeida doing Vocals, harmony Vocals and Acoustic Guitars ; Ricardo Fernandes playing Electric and Acoustic Guitars and harmony Vocals ; Joao Paulo Aca with Electric and Acoustic Guitars, Miguel Madeira on the Bass and Jorge Roque on Drums. The band started in 1999 when Ivan, Ricardo and Joao droped their projects to form the band later on to be called Marvel, initialy singing in Portuguese to try and capture the local market. It was then that Miguel Madeira the bass player joined the band after auditioning several bass players. With the great reviews coming from abroad Marvel gave the big leap and opted to start singing in English releasing the EP Long Way to Go that gave the jump start the band needed. From top chart positions in mp3.com and Javamusic to airplay in several radios and great reviews in magazines and webzines from all over the world it was the indication that the band had followed the correct path. The last missing link was Jorge Roque who joined the band in early 2002 and became the bands new drummer. Having the eye on Marvel for some time Target Records and Marvel eventually signed the deal in late 2002 and the result is the 13 track album called EVERAFTER Thanks to the success gained through the internet MARVEL will also continue to explore the wonder of this new world. Their redesigned web site www.marvelmusic.com will be constantly updated with news and some little surprises so be sure to check it out regularly.
