简介
Thaïs Perkins is a native of the Louisiana swampland, transplanted to Oregon soil. She describes her music as "folk-rock with a tinge of the southern blues", and her songwriting is inclusive of everything from growing up in the American south to using cockroach infestations as a metaphor for obsession. The combination of an elastic and pure soprano voice, quirky poetry and a guitar style that ranges from aggressively rhythmic to subtle and sparse makes this young songwriter one of the most promising new faces in the folk music community. Thaïs placed as a 2000 Kerrville NewFolk Songwriting Competition Finalist with two songs from the new album, and performed as part of the Kerrville Folk Festival competition. In her first year of application, she has performed at several festivals in the northwest, including Oregon Country Fair, the Oregon Folklife Festival, and the Tumbleweed Music Festival. Thaïs released her first album Lampstand at age 19. Since then she has established her own record label, DoDecaPus Records, and has released her second album Imaginary Elephants in 2000 at the ripe age of 22. Her first album has consistently won CMJ's Folk Top Ten for KBVR Corvallis and her second has been requested for airplay by the stations throughout the United States and Europe. Thais' third album, "Tactile", will be released in May 2002.
