The two tracks are both rich in themes and harmonies but differ a lot in atmosphere. Velvet Kiss has a joyous and light feel with a speedy progressive beat. An upbeat guitar accompanies a gliding lead which takes the main role after the break. Diamonds For Hearts as the b-side track has a slightly more sombre and nocturnal feel with the murmur of the deep bass line, the rippling arpeggios, and the smoky female vocal.
