简介
It seems that every hip-hop artist, or any artist for that matter has a story to tell. That story usually involves a series of ups and downs, struggles and triumphs, ultimately leading to the big break that brings the success and riches they'd been working for all their lives. D.One is still on that path, working hard and struggling, but after 6 long years of believing in himself and his passion, help has arrived. D.One made the decision to move out of Boston , leaving his solid fan base, his family, and his friends behind. He moved to LA and immediately found a studio to finish his newest project, “SECOND NATURE”. Using his degree in business, he worked full time for a couple months but quit when he landed an internship with an artist management company. D interned for no pay in an attempt to get his music into the right hands, and learn a little more of the business side of things while he was there. But living and recording took money, especially in LA, so D took apart time job valeting cars at a Mercedes dealership to make ends meet. One day, label head Manny Mijares was having his Mercedes serviced and D brought the car down for him. He heard 2Pac bumping in the car and always promoting, D.One asked Manny to take a listen to his own music. He gave Manny a CD and two days later got a call. Finally, years of hard work have paid off. Years that D.One has spent selling cds hand-to-hand and on his website, performing in and around Boston at places like the Middleast, the Big Easy and the Paradise, opening up for big acts like the Beatnuts, collabing with hip-hop legends like AZ (Nas “Illmatic”), Royce Da 5'9''(Eminem “Slim Shady LP”), and Canibus, as well as with the best artists around Boston like Krumbsnatcha (Gangstarr Foundation), Termanology, Reks and Chan, getting radio play on Boston's WERS 88.9, JAMN 94.5, WFNX 91.2/107.1, breaking into the world of extreme sports by writing exclusive tracks for legendary Drew Stone's (producer of the MTV True-life: I live to Ride) Urban Street Bike Warriors, and for the Jalbert Productions “Whiplash TV” which aired nationally on NBC, ABC, and ESPN, not to mention living paycheck to paycheck paying for his own recording, production, photo shoots, artwork, promotion, and cd duplication for his debut album “DVISIONE” and his most recent project “SECOND NATURE”. The respect D.One has earned lead Manny to offer him a solid deal with his label UPSCALE RECORDS...a $10,000 advance, a year contract including international distribution of his latest project, “SECOND NATURE”, all costs associated with his upcoming project including studio time, production, guest appearances, artwork, and promotion all paid for. Manny also ensured D that the most important goal of the year will be to get a major label deal for D.One. A weight has been lifted at a crucial time in D.One's career. He got some much needed financial support and a strong label that believes in his talent to step up and work hard for him. The next year is going to be a turning point in his career. He expects the ups and downs, the triumphs and the struggles but things are looking up and are only going to get better for D.One.
