This trio's eclectic blend of folk, rock country and blues can best be described as " New Folk." Their songs tell stories of history, daily life, social injustice and pure fun and create melodies of the desert, the sea, and sorrow and joy. Their unique blend of folk, rock and conversational lyrics create what has been described as coffee house country or New Folk. Borders Books in Manchester writes, "Monique's vocals have the grace and beauty of a bird in flight." Horizon Blue has shared the bill with acoustic headliners Stephen Nystrup, Donna Martin, Amy Gallatin & Stillwaters, Stan Sullivan and Salamander Crossing. Monique's songwriting credits include an international release in England, Germany, and Japan. Monique was a cowriter for The single "LOOK LOVE IN THE EYES" performed by Mark Free on the album "A Long Way From Love." This record received the number two spot for the album of the year in the British publication "Rock Report." Currently Horizon Blue is recording a their fourth CD release. Discography "Now and Then" "Something for Your Ears" "Chain with a Heart" mini CD for non profit benefit "Shades of Blue" Who We Are: Peter Hill (guitar, banjo, mandolin, strum stick, bass) has been playing a variety of string instruments, but mostly the guitar for over nineteen years. He studied bass at the Hartford Conservatory. He engineers recordings of "Horizon Blue" and others at his in home studio. Currently, he studies flute at the Hartt School of Music. Monique Hill (vocals, guitar, mandolin and strum stick) is a singer songwriter who has been performing professionally for over fourteen years at a variety of venues including dinner theatres, recording studios, bookstores, cafes, folk and craft festivals, and coffee houses. She studied voice and music at the Hartford Conservatory and the Dick Grove school of Music. Monique is the principal songwriter for Horizon Blue. Monique's songwriting credits include an international release in England, Japan and the Netherlands. She has also worked as a freelance composer for cable television and independent production companies. Matt Nozzolio (dobro and accordian) has played in settings ranging from area farmers' markets to the world premiere of the play Over There. In 2003, Matt premiered his original one-person music/dramatic production, "An Immigrant's Life." Het enjoys performing for the Griffin Hospital (Derby, Conn.) Arts and Entertainment Program. During the warmer weather, he often practices the time-honored tradition of busking, or street performing, primarily in New Haven, Conn.
