The charted success of the precursor to the EP Lovin’ You (released as a single) has been heard on jazz and adult contemporary radio stations in the U.S. and across the globe. Release of this EP begins a new year for Fabiana after a successful 2012 with her recognition as Best Brazilian female singer living outside Brazil in the U.S. by the 2012 Brazilian International Press Awards, cast member of the hit musical Loving the Silent Tears, and a special sold-out performance to a hometown crowd in Poços de Caldas, Brazil. Traditionally a Latin Jazz artist, Fabiana Passoni’s passionate voice and gambit of Brazilian rhythms transcend genres with Dim The Lights. Her live performances are a celebration of Brazilian soul and culture - rich in percussion and expression with a relentless zeal for life. These “remakes” in bossa nova, baião, and samba complement the rest of her playlist of original songs in Portuguese. Local performances in southern California are planned as well as a late spring/summer tour throughout the United States. Cities and dates will be announced soon. - - - - - - - - - - - - From the first track, her connection with the songs is clearly evident, the personal touch she puts in each of them, sounds so natural integrated with the original, that all these hits live a new melodic life going beyond the English lyrics. Her voice is so expressive painting feelings and moods, that anything she sings transcends the barrier of language. "Lovin You" preserves the grace of the original song, a melodious "Magic" continues the Brazilian breeze in a higher register, followed by a lively jazzy orchestrated "You'll Never Find". "Lovely Day' is the most intimate song of the set showing a superb balance between voice and instruments. Surprisingly Michael Jackson's "Rock With You" becomes a joyful radiant bossa, while on "Ain't Nobody" the singer adds a soft dramatic inflection. Carpenters's hit "Close To You" ends this delightful album on an unforgettable magical note. -- jazzworldquest 2013 Review
