简介
Allen Shamblin was born in Tennessee and grew up in Huffman, Texas, about thirty miles northeast of Houston. After graduating from Sam Houston State University with a degree in Marketing, Allen moved to Austin where he worked as a Real Estate Appraiser by day and began to hone his songwriting skills by night. In August of 1987, Shamblin moved to Nashville with fourteen completed songs. He has since had over one hundred songs recorded by major recording artists and had a hand in writing such #1 songs as "He Walked On Water" recorded by Randy Travis, "Walk On Faith" recorded by Mike Reid, "In This Life" recorded by Collin Raye, "We Were In Love" recorded by Toby Keith and "Don't Laugh At Me" recorded by Mark Wills. Allen also co-wrote the song "I Can't Make You Love Me" which was recorded by Bonnie Raitt and nominiated for a Grammy Award. Other artists who have cut Shamblin compositions include Dolly Parton, Bette Midler, Kenny Rogers, Wynonna, Keith Urban, Willie Nelson and Roy Rogers, "Prince", Kenny Chesney, Ronan Keating, Nancy Wilson and Peter, Paul and Mary to name just a few. Allen's first CD, entitled "Sunrise", is a collection of eleven story songs, which Allen selected as some of his personal favorites from his catalog. Recorded with just mainly Allen's vocal and his guitar, the project captured the feeling of sitting around on the back porch listening to the stories being told.
