Tango Extremo brings a distinctive flavor to the passion and persuasion of the Argentine tango. Since its inception in 2003, the ensemble has made remarkable development, making a big impression on both the Dutch as well as the foreign stages. The group has performed in many countries across the world, such as Argentina, Uruguay, Bolivia, China, Russia, Kurdistan, South Africa, Botswana, Venezuela, Colombia, Ecuador, Aruba, Curaçao, South Korea and Mexico. In Europe they performed in many countries as well, like Spain, Italy, Ireland, Denmark, Iceland, Greenland, Turkey, Croatia and France. During the Buenos Aires Tango Festival in August 2009, Tango Extremo was the only non-Argentine ensemble, playing at this most prestigious tango festival in the world. Line up: Tanya Schaap - Violin Violinist Tanya Schaap studied Classical music at the conservatory of Amsterdam and after that she got interested in Tango music. She went to Buenos Aires, Argentina and studied with Fernando Suarez Paz, the violinist of Astor Piazzolla’s ‘Quinteto Tango Nuevo’ and Pablo Agri. Since 2008 she is violinist at the Argentinean all star orchestra ‘Cafe de los Maestros’. With this orchestra she has been touring in France, Greece and the UK. Ben van den Dungen - Soprano saxophone Saxophonist Ben van den Dungen has been one of Europe’s top Jazz-and Latin musicians since the last 25 years. Ben has musically always taken a very wide stand, has had an eclectic background, having played in several Latino orchestras. Ben studied Indian music with several teachers in Mumbai. Saxophonist Ben van den Dungen teaches saxophone at the Jazz department of the conservatory of Rotterdam and has been giving masterclasses at universities all over the world. Rob van Kreeveld - Piano Pianist Rob van Kreeveld can easily be seen as Holland’s number one Jazz pianist. He is what one calls a real ‘musician musician’. Rob has been travelling all over the globe with his music and played with Jazzlegends like Stan Getz. He is professor at the Royal academy of music in The Hague and guest lecturer at the conservatories of a.o. Boston and Helsinki. Oleg Fateev - Bayan Oleg Fateev was born in Moldavia and studied at the Gnesin conservatory in Moscow. In 1996 he came to The Netherlands, where he has been able to start up an impressive career, playing lots of solo-concerts. Oleg plays Russian pieces and Folkmusic, written especially for bayan, Moldavian melodies and many classical works, but especially with the Argentinean tango he has deeply fallen in love. Since 2012 Oleg is the steady accordionist of Tango Extremo. Marc van Rooij - Double Bass Marc is a versatile musician and works in both the classical- and the jazzscene. As classical bassplayer he worked with the Brabants Orkest, Orkest van van het Oosten and the Dutch Philharmonic Orchestra. In the jazzscene he has been sharing the stage with Johnny Griffin, Woody Shaw and Dee Daniels. In the theatres accompanied for years the legendary Toon Hermans and Mini & Maxi. Marc is director of the jazzdepartment of the Academy of Music in Tilburg, The Netherlands.
