The next release from Is It Balearic? comes courtesy of Basel's nu-disco wizards Pharoa Black Magic. Written produced mixed by nicolas probst mixed by konrad sigl vocals peter coyle. Amulet features the vocal talents of Peter Coyle of 1980s Liverpool outfit the Lotus Eaters. This is a mid-tempo, mellow, chugging electronic / Balearic pop groove, tinted with sun-dappled psych guitars. Beautifully produced, it's a sublime understated sunshine anthem. Roll on summer! Top drawer remixers are present and correct as always: Begin (that James Holroyd in horizontal mode) takes the original and creates a deep Balearic groove with marimbas and soft synth melodies. Mmmmm... Reverso 68 ups the pace for a disco-house feel, adding trademark arpeggios and filtering Coyle's vox. Lastly, original Balearic pioneer Steve Proctor rearranges the track into a big chugging, baggy acid house groove. Ownership of a smiley t-shirt and bandana is not necessary to enjoy this record!
