Sherah Arthur Berthelsen was raised on the Oregon Coast. She started flute lessons at an early age and dreamed of becoming a professional musician. Sherah enjoyed making music so much that her parents had to make a rule that she was not allowed to practice her flute until after she finished her homework! During high school, an injury to her shoulder made playing the flute impossible for some time. This was a real blow since she lived to make music. Soon after, her mom found a little panflute, which Sherah started playing around with--just to have a way to make music until she could play her flute again. She has shared her music with many people in numerous places and is always amazed by how people are drawn in by the sound of the panflute. Tim Berthelsen grew up in Puerto Rico and Northern California. His parents started him in Suzuki violin at a young age. His mother encouraged him to practice even though it wasn’t his favorite activity, saying that some day he would appreciate it! Well guess what… he appreciates it a lot now! Making music with the violin at home or performing for an audience feeds his soul. He loves playing by ear and letting the spirit move the harmony. Sherah and Tim got together in 1999 while attending Walla Walla College. Tim graduated with Engineering and Sherah with Business in 2000. Playing music together is still a big part of their relationship. Their connection is evident in this album. This album is a result of many requests from key people in Tim and Sherah’s life. Putting together a collection of songs that would be satisfying to listen to was a fun challenge. Tim said “Every time we listened to a track we had recorded we always found something that we thought we could do better. Finally we had to just say enough and go with what we had!” In the end “imperfection” adds a human quality that actually improves the listening experience. Hope you enjoy it!
