"Swing For The Fence" is the creation of Dave Hansen, who wrote and performed all ten songs in this collection. "She's Still His Juliet" combines a particularly beautiful melody with carefully crafted lyrics to celebrate love that stands the test of time and explores the true value of staying together through thick and thin. "Hey, Mickey" is a song of remembrance about a boyhood hero, whose titanic achievements on the baseball field still inspire his fans to "Swing For The Fence" and reminds us that we can all use a hero in our lives. "Michael" honors the life of Michael Jackson, whose tragic death occurred while this album was in progress. Hansen was moved to write this tribute song by the powerful outpouring of love for this amazing talent, the likes of which will not be seen again for a long time. "First Love" has a hauntingly beautiful melody and tells the story of a first love that is hard to shake. A wide ranging musical palette was used in the creation of these songs as exemplified by the bluesy, cool vibe of "I Come Home", the Beatlesque "She Knows", and rocking satirical "Dewey, Cheatum, & Howe".
