简介

Its here, and its HIP HOP... NATO CALIPH Behind every author, there is always a story to be told. The same is with Shedrick Remon Kelley - a lyrical author and hip-hop artist of St. Louis, MO. - who's determined to be heard and appreciated for musical works. During his early childhood, Shedrick resided in various neighborhoods throughout his now musically recognized hometown, but his most influential years were spent growing up in the suburbs of University City, where he was also born on August 09, 1980. During his memorable years as a student of University City Senior High School, Shedrick began taking his first constructive steps towards fulfilling his musical dream. It was in 1995 that he met and befriended a schoolmate and hip-hop artist by the pseudonym of Phact, who became a needed link and step closer in forming their soon to be hip-hop trio, KTC - Konfusion to Creation. It was through Phact that the final link and third member of the group, Cin, was introduced and joined with the two to complete the trio in 1996. As a finished product, KTC worked diligently to become three of St. Louis' prospering underground minds and voices to be heard and felt throughout the streets. KTC received their first taste of fame when they performed their first hit single, Smoke'n Verbs at Washington University's college party, where their cry of individuality, originality and perseverance pleasantly tickled the ears of listeners. It was then that Shedrick adopted the profound and ever-increasing hunger for the industry and the opportunity of having a substantial impact on it. Known to the musical world as Nato Caliph, Shedrick is considered to be one of St. Louis' most respected artist and future prodigies. With a pseudonym that speaks for itself, he takes pride in his music and works hard towards owning up to the name, which means "to bomb with success". Shedrick admits his respect for his most favored hip-hop artists and emcees such as Jay-Z, Rakim, Wu-Tang and The Lost Boyz, however he sees fit to stand in a league of his own. In contrast with most hip-hop artist, he carries a discrete level of uniqueness as an esteemed artist. He seasons his witty word play by choosing not to use derogatory or foul language. He finds no need to glorify drugs, sex or violence in his music. Known as the "Moveman", Shedrick captivates his audience simply through his ability to make them dance and through his thought-provoking and conscience lyrics. When asked to depict his own lyrical persona, he quotes himself from his previously released single, Move Pt. 2, by saying, "I'm a Knowledge-Battle-Rhyme Spitter..." Nato Caliph is no stranger to the hip-hop scene. He has done collaborations with such artist as Murphy Lee of the St. Lunatics, Bits & Pieces, various artists of Soul Tyde, and quite naturally, Konfusion to Creation. Shedrick has also performed with well-known recording artist such as Universal recording artists, The St.Lunatics at Bradley University and Interscope recording artist Bilal, at Club Galaxy in St. Louis, MO. He has also presented himself at the Missouri Black Expo and 1st Fridays at Mississippi Nights. Other performances include shows at various venues such as Blueberry Hill, Red Sea and Creepy Crawl. Currently, Shedrick is working on his anticipated album, "Wisdom Cipher", which has been scheduled for completion and available in the stores late summer of 2002. He has also had two released vinyl singles, Move Pt. 2 and This is For, playing in rotation on St. Louis' two hottest hip-hop radio stations, Q95.5 and 100.3 the Beat, and also on the shelves at local hip-hop record stores. With many musical accomplishments under his belt, his degree of conviction, devotion and persistence, Nato Caliph has shown that he has what it takes to successfully excel further within the music industry as a whole. He is determined to claim his position and make a name for himself as a favored and well-respected hip-hop artist. With Nato's advantages as a distinctive artist, there are no doubts that his triumph is sure to come.
