HotPress MOTHER OF PEARL BIOG Ali De Siati - vocals Marco Schnabl - guitar and programming Jonathan Neaves - Drums London-based power trio fronted by the powerful voice and incredible stage presence of Ali De Siati (former MTV VJ/producer). Mother of Pearl have been active for the last couple of years, gigging intensely in the UK and Ireland. In the year 2001 they self-produced their first EP (Mother of Pearl), which got a great deal of attention from the press and media. In the same year they got to play several important venues like the Point Depot (supporting Aslan) in Dublin and The Electric Ballroom in London. In the year 2002 Mother of Pearl were nominated one of the best 5 newcomers of the year by HotPress/Bacardi and played an amazing showcase at Vicar Street (Dublin), where they were acclaimed by Noel Redding (former bassist in the Jimi Hendrix' Experience) as one of the "hottest new bands on the market". The track "Borders" was also nominated among the best 8 tracks of the year by Hotpress/Bacardi and received airplay in Ireland nationwide. In the summer of 2002 Mother of Pearl recorded their second self-produced EP (Volume) for the American Industry. The band played a successful showcase tour in New York in July 02 in venues like the CBGBs and Arlene's Grocery, after which they were taken on board by Nick Caris at The Agency Group NY. In October 2002 Mother of Pearl were flown back to the United States for a second showcase tour sponsored by The Agency Group (CBGBs, Arlene's Grocery, The Chance Theatre, etc.). Mother of Pearl's music has received airplay on many radio stations: SBN radio (England), Music Choice (All of Europe), FM104, 2FM, Today FM, Galway Bay FM (Ireland), KINK FM and VPRO 3 voor 12 (Netherlands), DMX Radio (LA, USA), Savage Radio (North Carolina), Novaradio (Florence, Italy), Controradio (Florence, Italy). In October 2003 their track "Myself" has reached the number 1 in the All Time Rock Charts on the American website Garageband.com (endorsed by Sir George Martin - the Beatles), In November 2003 the same track is nominated Rock Track of the week (from November 10th) and appears on all the main pages of the site.
