简介
Judy Grahn’s legendary poetry can be heard in a number of places. From the memorable slogan “the common woman is as common as good bread, and will rise…”, to the literature classroom studies of “A Woman Is Talking to Death”, to her cultural theories on menstruation and the creation of the world, to the stage of indie-rocker Ani DiFranco; Grahn’s work crosses generations and genres as “poetry of use”. She gives voice to people’s stories. Lunarchy produced by Judy Grahn and composer/songwriter Anne Carol is a full listening experience spanning four decades of poetic work from Grahn’s long and continuing career as a poet, author, and activist. Lunarchy is part poetry, part song, part experiment of sound and the word. It is a rich collaboration between poet and composer. Anne Carol adds a songwriter’s sensibilities in acoustic renditions of Grahn’s poetry. As a rock-inspired guitarist Anne Carol pushes the edges with PJ Harvey influenced compositions as well. The music includes experiments using drum machine, synthesizer, and distorted guitars to surround the powerful emotional landscape of the poet’s words, which Grahn impeccably delivers. Lunarchy features a skilled and creative team of musicians and producers who have captured the collaborative spirit of the project.
