With God’s hand upon him, Luke Mercer, Jr. was created to be a vessel to reach, teach and touch the masses by his testimony through song. Designed by God, saved by the blood of Jesus and protected by the Holy Spirit, Luke discovered his God given gift at an early age. As a little boy singing on the front row of the choir, he would use the banister as a make believe piano and pretend to play every song. His parents took his interest in music as a sign and placed him in private lessons where he discovered his true calling. Luke began his musical journey as a musician at the Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Austin, Texas and quickly became known throughout the area as a gifted and talented vocalist and pianist. He later moved to Houston to cultivate and mature his gift and while there, he truly began to understand that “to whom much is given much is required”. While on his journey in spiritual growth, Satan was busy attacking, plotting and planninghis demise. BUT GOD... Luke’s personalstruggles allowed the devil to believe he’d won the fight. But God began to speak to him through song. In some of his darkest hours, Godwould show up and give him the mostinspiring lyrics to ever be written. Luke is a living testimony, that what God has for you can only be for you. His faith, knowledge of scripture and musical ability has now manifested into this magnificent work of God through song, and the world now has the opportunity to be blessed by his music and testimony. Luke Mercer, Jr. has written songs and has made appearances on several projects including, Claudia Williams & the Voices of Christ, Kirbyjon Caldwell & the Windsor Village UMC Mass Choir, Brian Courtney Wilson and he also served as the musical director for the first project from Chester D.T. Baldwin andM3. In 2012, Luke Mercer, Jr. gathered a few singers (A Chosen Few) and began to lay the groundwork for a musical masterpiece. A live recording was held in 2013 and his debut album, I’ve Never Seen Him Fail, was released in 2015. It is our prayer that this debut album will inspire individuals, motivate many, and save souls. But above all else, the heart’s desire of Luke Mercer Jr. & A Chosen Few, is to glorify God for the things he has done.
