Passion, fun and sass pervade Jon & Lucinda's blend of stripped down acoustic rock, R&B, blues, country, rock & roots folk resulting in vocals and harmonies that stroke your soul. Jon and Lucinda met in the late 80's as a result of Lucinda answering an ad in the Village Voice for a lead singer for an original rock band. Little did they know where that first meeting in the Riverdale Diner in the Bronx would lead. A girl from the mountains of Virginia and a boy from the Bronx, the regional musical influences of each coalesce to make for a melodious tension of original songs whose themes often express the creative challenge of relationships. "Music brought us together. We write songs about the stories we live. We both started playing in bands and doing solo gigs when we were younger. We've seen our share of bands come and go, and we've been through various incarnations of band rosters ourselves, but being somewhat down the road from where we started brings a wisdom and perspective to not only the music, but our performance. There is a deepening that I feel we bring to our music that can only come from having played music together for so long. We might start a gig not speaking to one another, or at the very least, growling at each other. But then somehow the music takes us on a journey of healing and understanding. I still find new meanings in lyrics we've sung for years. It might be a message Jon intended for me (Lucinda) and I'm just now getting it. That's some damn good writing, Jon. The new album, Late For the City, captures all of these feelings, I think. We're on the other side of "we'll see how this goes". We've weathered births and deaths, heart aches, loss, disillusionment. . . , pretty much what everyone else does--but we're still here making music.
