Sonata for Solo Cello
简介
These are lovely works for Solo Cello. Scott Eggert's "Uccello" (Bird), written in 2005 is a unique evocation of an Italian Blackbird that inspired this portrayal through the lyric voice of the cello. This is a debut recording of this work. Czech compser, Viktor Kalabis's "Three Monologues"(1996) and "Rondo Drammatico"(1998) are meditative, and exciting works, also heard here in their first recordings. George Crumb's "Sonata for Cello Solo" (1955) is a 20th Century classic in the genre, and Gyorgy Ligeti's short two movement Sonata for Slo Cello (1948/53) is also a popular favorite among cellists. The great Brazilian composer, Walter Burle Marx has written what some consider to be the finest example of Cello Trio music ever composed. His "Casanova Fantasy Variations" (1985) is an adventure in sonic textures, inventive melodies, and virtuosic cello writing. The work loosely outlines the exploits of the notorious Casanova. The work begins with a simple Italianesque theme which develops quickly into an enormous range of lush, and original variations culminating in a brilliant fugue pushing all three voices to the brink.
