简介
Damien Thornber began writing songs and formed a band at the beginning of 2005. He had a great idea by which his music could help the poor and orphaned children of the Third World, and after some personnel changes, the band has settled into a solid formation. We are: Damien Thornber; acoustic guitar, vocals, harmonica, Rob Findlay; electric guitar, Emily Minchin; viola, Pat Cullen; bass guitar and Glen Scholes; drums. By building a recording studio in his back yard and with the help of his willing band and a whole lot of professional volunteers, Damien Thornber and the Orphans recorded their debut album, Vow of Poverty. This was named such because all of the sales from this album go to a charity (we don’t make a cent off the CD), VOW International Services Inc, founded by Damien, and whose main objective is to help educate poor/orphaned children by either building school facilities or by sponsorship into existing schools. We are having a few album launches, they are a fusion of art, media and music. The first one was on March 22nd at the Fly By Night Club in Fremantle, Western Australia. Upcoming launches are at the Cottesloe Beach Hotel (Perth WA) on April 12th, and the Floeat Hotel (Perth WA) on May 3rd. The band is also set to tour the remote Aboriginal communities of the Kimberley region of the north west of Western Australia in July to raise awareness to the public the issues remote communities face today.
