Crooks and Architects : Dark Country EP Clint Newman - David Camarillo - Dustin Gill - Mikol Gaither Crooks and Architects formed in 2012 when Clint Newman, David Camarillo, and Mikol Gaither got together to re-work some of David's music from his college years with a former band, Wills Point. Initially dubbed The Tyrants, Clint played drums, David played guitar and provided vocals. In the summer of 2013, Mikol finished work on his solo punk album, Locust Society, but a few ideas were still lingering from sessions with Clint and David. Almost as if delivered by God herself, Dustin Gill, who had played drums for Wills Point, moved back to DFW from Austin, and was quickly recruited for the kit. Mikol and David continued to provide the guitar work, while Clint switched gears and took on the front-man role. On the street, you wouldn’t recognize the C&A guys as hard rockers. They have wives and children and pets and mortgages. David is a CFP, Mikol is a tech for the phone company, and Clint and Dustin are SBOs. Natives of DeSoto, TX and middle/junior/high school friends, each of the band members has more than a decade of experience writing and playing with various local bands and ensembles (Wills Point, 6 Hours to Dallas, The J5R Project, Mic City, Locust Society, Aquatab, Bradley Miles and The Texas Highways, Dusty’s Reggae Outfit). Well, except Clint, who has more experience singing in Baptist churches than on rock n’ roll stages. Sonically, the band rides the line between hard rock and heavy metal, while some passages sound like they were plucked right out of the 1950s. Through David’s boutique pedal-board, Dustin’s reggae-metal flair, Mikol’s mastery of the six-string, and Clint’s distinct and raspy growl, Crooks & Architects rock - hard, heavy, and loud. Pounding drums, soaring solos, and aggressive lyrical delivery are just the beginning of the C&A experience. Strap yourself in for an auditory adventure, the first of many.
