Biography Welcome to the evolutionary journey of "Stepchylde Tha Phoenix" Stepchylde Tha Phoenix has two identities which combine to contain and exemplify the true artist. Born Kelvin Jelks a Flagstaff, Az native reborn in the midst of the fire and the ashes of the LA riots. Assuming the identity of the Phoenix Bird he came up with the Phrase "Born Hot." A talented artist as unique and extraordinary as the legendary creature of whom he received his appellation. His passion for music was primarily revealed at a musical he attended as a child. A local music instructor noticed him beating on an imaginary drum, and stated "make sure he gets in my class." The knowledge, and love for music increased as he matured. While exploring his many acquired talents over the years, such as spinning wax as a DJ for local rap groups, he found his true love; to rock the mic! Determined not to limit himself, he indulged all forms of music. Being a versatile artist, his accomplishments include breakdancing as a child alongside Lionel Richie in the 84-85 Olympic's, to the release of the CD entitled "Thug Angel" a tribute to the late great Tupac Shakur. The CD features the single "Thinking Of You" Performed by Stepchylde Tha Phoenix, and produced by Johnny J. A song of which Tupac's mother and family found to be genuine and admirable. Other accomplishments include performing for Tupac's birthday celebration alongside other famous artist such as Jon B, And Bissy Bone. As of late he has performed all around town from the smallest clubs to some of the biggest from here to STL. Opening for such greats as Slick Rick at the House Of Blues in Hollywood. Performing at the Roxy, the famous Whisky A GO GO where he just recently held his album release party for his sophmore ablum titled "My Life As..." which was funded out of his own pockets. He has been blessed to host a new TV show airing this summer 2006 for MTV Japan called "Dreamers."
