简介
Jamie Ward is a Canadian singer-songwriter currently living in the Parry Sound area in Ontario. Born in Toronto in 1975, he started showing an early love of music through his fascination with The Beatles. By his early teens he was teaching himself guitar and started writing songs by the age of 16. After a brief stint at the Royal Conservatory of Music studying harmony and composition, Jamie abandoned his pursuit of classical training and focused on songwriting. During his 20's, Jamie became a fan of vintage recordings of the 1920's-30's, and began writing songs in the tin pan alley style under a mysterious alias. During this time he had received much exposure through being a regular on Richardson's Round-up on CBC radio where he was interviewed on one occasion. Jamie has also been played on Stuart McLean's Vinyl Cafe and was featured on the website BoingBoing by co-developer of Wired magazine. By the age of 30, he began a new musical journey in search of his own voice and style. Inspired by the great singer-songwriters from Neil Young, Bob Dylan to Paul Simon and the team of Lennon and McCartney, Jamie recorded his first album under his own name in 2009 with the help of friend and pianist Craig Harley who also produced the CD. On the heels of that release, Jamie and band in tow recorded in NY with producer Malcolm Burn (Emmylou Harris, Neil Young, Bob Dylan) in January 2010. In Toronto, March 2011, Jamie Ward and Justin Haynes recorded "Let's Have A Parade" which was produced my enigmatic and ellusive producer Jack Boat. Recorded in a few days, this record marks a significant change in direction for Jamie Ward's sound, referring to it as "Retro-futuristic new age dance ballads".
