简介
Wavesliders "in A Blue Room" is a compilation of surfers who have now become the stuff Surf Legends are built upon~! 25 years ago , Musician/Producer James "Jay" Donnellan collaborated with Surf Bud and Producer/ Audio Engineer,Gary Holland, Hollywood Engineer, Producer and Audio Engineer/EXPEDITION TEAM MEMBER for Capt. Jacques Yves Cousteau. This combination helped bring all of the elements needed to make and endeavor as extensive as "In A Blue Room" possible. This project came together all contributors combined their love of music and surfing to create this unique collection of what real Surfer music is. A true understanding and opportunity to feel, write about, sing about and think about taking care of The Oceans which provide for life to exist on Planet Earth from the surfer's themselves and not what we've been told "Surf Music" was supposed to be. Wavesliders "In A Blue Room" is now 25 years old and more relevant than ever. Even though all of the music isn't related to the Oceans or the problems which we continue to face with Ocean acidity and the death of our corals or the proliferation of Crown of Thorns starfish, it's "vibe" and "soul" is still very much intact and very much as significant as it was a quarter of a century ago. These issues are with us still and continue to remain ever more important issues which plague us now more than ever. With every purchase and every play of every song, the concept of saving our Oceans becomes ever prevalent on our minds. Let every song remind us of how important water is to our lives and how everything we do effects everything else on our Planet~! We are responsible for the quality of life for not only us but the epic proportions of waste and pollution we generate will remain in our ecological cycle for generations to come and only humans can eliminate the problems we've created. When this collection of surfers came together in studios all over the Planet, Gary and Jay seized the opportunity for real surfers to express their concerns and use their love of Surfing and their love of Music to come together and bring these issues into focus. They used their music to sound the alarm for Surfers around the World to take the lead roll model on the issue of people being effected by the many things mankind is doing to the Planet which eventually ends up back into the sea. The use of the track "Cool Water" became the anthem for The Surfrider Foundation and was used as their only audio on their Public Service Commercials for their own publicity and as their theme music which was even used when you were put on hold when calling their offices. The song is as relevant today as it was then. Each of the participants offered their own feelings on the orignal liner notes and we welcome the opportunity to post those thoughts and feelings on our blog, when available to the public ( we will announce that information on our FaceBook Page. PLEASE keep checking there until we get our blog up and running.). The track "Ocean Dreams" features the sound effects which take you from a walk on the beach, into the surf and then under the waves to hear the sounds of Humpbacks and Orca whales "sing" with the instrumental track of "Sleepwalk".. It's been one of the most favorite of all of the tracks and helps you realize what is happening under the water and beyond the surf which gives us such exhilaration and to know that feeling is shared by the giant leviathans who live beyond the breakers. The story of how we were able to gather all of these talented surfers into this compilation makes it seem as if this album was meant to be. Gary's travels as Producer and Audio Engineer with The Cousteau Society EXPEDITION TEAM gave him a unique perspective and opportunities to meet up with Surfers around the World. His travel to Australia, the home of Robbie Page, Wayne "Rabbit" Bartholomew and Pam Burridge made it possible for them to appear on this album. Pam's "Summertime All 'Round The World" even made it to the charts in Sydney's radio play. Gary and Jay were able to track down the great "Lance Carson" whose life was the basis for the film classic "Big Wednesday". Gregory Harrison played "Kahuna" in the film "North Shore" and Gary happened to run into him while they were both filming at The Culver City Studios where Gary approached Greg with the WaveSlider idea and Greg joined in knowing the real soul coming from all of these real surfers was a very unique opportunity to get away from the hustle and bustle of H'wood. Gregory helped and he was able to contribute to our collection with a tune Jay had written; "Bad Attitude". The stars aligned as it seemed any of the major names in surfing 25 years ago came together in a way and method which allowed this compilation album of tunes to come into it's own. Soul Surfer Tom Curren sent us his track fully mixed and we didn't even touch it as his "Whose Side You On?" asked the question of where are YOU going to be when it's time to be accounted for? Are you going to be the one throwing your plastic into the sea or are you going to be the one who picks it up for recycling? There's much more to say about the story behind "WaveSliders: In A Blue Room" which must be told. When ESPN showed up for The '90 Huntington Beach Classic, they also rolled into a rented sound studio where we brought many of the Surfers who appear on our album into the sound booth to record the chorus for "Cool Water" which was captured by the ESPN cameras and featured on ESPN's television show, "Surfing Magazine". When you hear our first track, "Surfing' '90", you'll recognize it to be an full length adaptation version of the "Surfing Magazine" television program's theme music. We'll keep you updated as we add to the blog site and make progress with our marketing. Thanks and hope you enjoy this Classic Compilation's Silver Anniversary Edition~!
