简介
Trialogue featuring Sherry Finzer, flutes ~ Darin Mahoney, guitars ~ Will Clipman, percussion Imagine a breath of ancient breeze stirring the fabled Aeolian strings, accompanied by the rhythm of distant thunder and the melody of gentle rain on your window pane, and you’ll have an inkling of the subtle, sophisticated sounds of Trialogue: timeless music as old as the earth and sky, yet as fresh and new as tomorrow’s sunrise. Featuring international award-winning multi-flutist and Heart Dance Records recording artist Sherry Finzer playing concert C, alto and bass flutes; luthier and guitarist Darin Mahoney playing his self-built koa and cedar acoustic guitars; and seven-time GRAMMY® Nominee Will Clipman playing a pan-global palette of drums and percussion, this genre-transcending trio blends the depth of classical discipline with the down-home soulfulness of American roots music and the percolating pulse of worldbeat to create an entirely original sound that is at once soothing and energizing. Renowned Echoes Radio host John Diliberto has described Sherry’s sound as “winged chamber music” that entrances the ear, elevates the spirit and enlivens the mind. While the music of Trialogue richly rewards contemplative listening, it also extends an irresistible invitation to celebratory dance. Sherry Finzer is an international award-winning flutist, composer, and performer. Based in Phoenix, Arizona, she performs as a soloist and with her guitarist Darin Mahoney, Native American flutist Mark Holland, Australian pianist Fiona Joy, Windham Hill pianist Scott Cossu, and other local, national and international musicians. She is known for her variety of musical styles, and performs as a Pearl Flute Performing Artist, Guo Flute Performing Artist, and Recording Artist for Heart Dance Records. Musically, Sherry has evolved from a classical, competitive flutist to recording acclaimed new age music albums. Reviewers have described her playing as “deeply haunting. . . calms and yet piques the senses”. Echoes Radio host and contemporary instrumental music critic John Diliberto has referred to Sherry's sound as "winged chamber music.” Explore Sherry’s creative world further at www.sherryfinzer.com. Darin Mahoney blends his country and bluegrass styles into gentle contemporary instrumental melodies. In 2013, he released a collaboration album with flutist Sherry Finzer, called Transformation, which won Album of the Year from One World Music in the UK. His song Confused, from his solo album In the Grain, was placed in the documentary Absent. GRAMMY® winning guitarist and Windham Hill Records founder Will Ackerman has written of Darin’s music: “Darin’s stock in trade is melody. The forms are traditional and familiar, but the melodies, heartfelt without exception, are all Darin’s. The overall impression is of being in place you know well and love deeply, but being suddenly amazed one afternoon that the view is so spectacular.” Darin is a luthier and performs and records on his hand-built guitar made of koa wood and cedar. He played his first professional gig at fourteen, and has since then mastered a pan-global palette of over one hundred percussion instruments in addition to the traditional drumset. Will has received seven GRAMMY® nominations, including one for his solo world music album Pathfinder. He is a three-time Native American Music Award Winner, a Canadian Aboriginal Music Award Winner, a New Age Reporter Music Award Winner, a two-time TAMMIE Award Winner, and has been inducted into the Tucson Musicians Museum. Will has recorded over sixty albums, including over thirty for Canyon Records, where he is regarded as the house percussionist. In addition to his solo work, Will performs and records with R. Carlos Nakai and William Eaton, among many other internationally-acclaimed artists and ensembles, and has toured throughout the United States as well as in Canada, Germany, Morocco and Russia. His solo Planet of Percussion® performance and workshop takes audiences of all ages on a world tour of rhythm and polyrhythm. Explore will’s creative world further at www.willclipman.com.
