ShakaMello Stewart, aka Howard L. Stewart has been involved in music since he was a youth. He grew up in Hopeful Village, Prospect District, New Balbec Manchester, Jamaica. He began his music career around the two recording studios in his community, tutored by legends like Bongo Ira and Len D who inspired his creativity. As he grew he nurtured his budding talent, entering competitive talent shows, and at 16yrs.old he won a local DJ competition and never looked back. Eagle Force heard the young talent and hired him to work his sound system for the next three years, taking him out into different communities to tour his music to the people. He worked with Black Unity in Santa Cruz, at the Lodge in Bybrook, and then RJ Radio Station. He also worked with Finger Studios, building his following while developing his unique personal style and fan base. In 2004 he entered the Digicel Talent Show where he was received as a fyah brand crooner and rising star. His boom hit “RICH AND GREEDY” shot his name throughout the Caribbean, and DJ’s like Ron Muschette and Elise Kelly on HOT FM started blasting out his music, he was interviewed by Susie Q from REGGAEBEAT of TVJ in Jamaica, TRINIDAD TV also put him on top with radio and TV interviews. The entire Caribbean was blazin with SHAKAMELLO STEWART’s music. Consecutive hits such as "WHEN DID YOU LEAVE HEAVEN” with JR. PINCHERS, “LIFE AND GLORY” with JR. PINCHERS, followed by “HERBALIST” on the JAMAICAN WARRIORS COMPILATION with JAH MASON, LUTAN FYAH, HIGH KE, the duet on LUCIANO AND FRIENDS CD, and the “LIFE AND GLORY” combination with Jr. Pinchers, have kept him on top of the charts. Mixing Lab, Tuff Gong and Anchor Studios were just a few of the studios producing his music and working closely with him to bring out his message. SHAKAMELLO STEWART has been a presence in Reggae music for two decades, honing his craft. After taking a break from music to raise his two daughters, SHAKAMELLO has returned to his passion on writing, producing his music. Currently he’s working on his debut SOLO CD “WHEN JAH CALL I” produced by his own, HEIGHTS OF RASTA label. His music is stronger and more reflective on this CD as it depicts his journey through life as a true Rastafarian and his unbeatable strength in his love for JAH. His voice is lovely when it needs to be, as on “SHE’S COMING”, soulful and gritty when he grinds out his ballads, as on “BLUE KUSH” and strong, purposeful and thankful as on “WHEN JAH CALL I”. He is the matured, conscious voice of a culture; a life dedicated to the mission of bringing the talent JAH blessed him with to the people of the world.
