My name is Tunde Esho. I am a male gospel musician aged 19 years old. I am originally from Ibadan in Nigeria, i lived there for a while before moving to Ireland at the age of 11. My parents had no intentions of coming to Ireland, they had their eyes set on England, but God knows why he brought us here, something I’m only beginning to understand now through what he is doing in my life. First off let me state, what I am not, I am not a positive rapper, but I am a Gospel Rapper. The Gospel is the good news so I am a rapper sharing the Good News of Christ through the music I make. I used to be a secular rap artist and was in a rap group called The Bandits for about 2 years. I look back on that 2years and I now realize that they were probably the worst years in my life so far. Our motto was if we haven’t lived it, we can’t talk about it so we then went out and did a lot of dreadful things so we could make it feel real when we get on the mic. I knew this was a terrible life I was living, but i didn’t want to acknowledge the fact that Jesus was Lord over my life, i wanted to believe i make the plans in my life. I was a “Sunday Christian” i played the drums in church, i sang in the choir but that didn’t change the fact that i wasn’t living right, but it got to a stage in my life when things were happening to me and i was turning to Christ slowly but was always going back. I got my proper salvation in July 2008 at the CAC crusade held in Dublin, Ireland. A few weeks later i left the group because i felt the group would hold back my growth in Christ. I started writing Gospel rhymes in my free time as an hobby just to keep myself from doing some things. I wrote some gospel songs but they were just songs, with no message or anointing in them, they were just words over a beat. I became a performing gospel Artist in the summer of 2009. This was the time I got the vision to use rap as a ministry for Christ. I have the vision to draw the Youth of Ireland to Christ. I have faced a lot of challenges as an artist so far, a few of these challenges are actually practicing what i say on the songs, being held in a position of high esteem by many youths in Ireland who look up to me and expect me to be perfect in all things. I have overcome these challenges by praying to God and moving closer and closer to God in every way possible. So far, i have released a mixtape titled Stronger which was for free download. I have released several promo tracks. The highlight of 2009 was performing at the Megafest with artists like Sonnie Badu, Sammie Okposo, Chris Kabs, Gospo Remix, Mike Aremu and many more. Since then i have the chance to go to many churches and youth events to minister through my music. There are two many highlights in 2010 to pick one. It could be the release of my single titled Saved by the Blood which is slowly climbing the charts or the release of my EP titled Stand Out, or performing with Manafest an American artist. My main source of inspiration is God, my past experiences and the things happening in my surroundings. For instance a song called Where do we go on my EP, i got the inspiration for it, whilst i was in town and i saw the state of the world. My mentors are too much to mention so i won’t say any names, but i will say this, if i have ever come to you for advice concerning music or my spiritual growth, i see you as my mentor.
