I remember countless trips in the car with my Mom singing all kinds of songs from show tunes to church songs to silly kids songs and loving every minute of it. My whole family was musical. I banged on our baby grande piano a bit but mostly loved to sing. I sang in choirs and musicals in school and church. Then I started playing guitar when I was 19. A buddy let me borrow an old classical guitar with nylon strings, seriously, older then dirt. The moment I picked up that guitar, I started writing songs. I knew (maybe) 3 chords and would play them over and over again. Sometimes I would lay on my bed and actually put myself to sleep playing! Why did I start playing? (Cue cheesy music here) There was this cute guy… who I had a crush on- he thought “chick guitar players were so cool".  I literally never saw him again after I started playing. Go figure. However I went from thinking guitar was "cool" to it being a life long passion. I started out playing countless nights in my bedroom and writing songs I never thought would ever be heard except by me. Yet there was something inside tugging me to share my music with people. I started leading songs around the campfire, playing open mics, performing at coffeehouses & festivals and leading worship in churches. In 2004 I moved to Canada to marry my hunky hubby (who I have a forever crush on btw!). Since I moved my time has been focused on different endeavours both musical and non-musical alike. But in the past few years my guitar, pen & paper have been beckoning me to spend more time with them. So there I was…back in my room playing and writing…where it all began. And now it is finally time to get what is on the Inside Out. Album #1 born.
