简介
Born Dec. 9th, 1941 in New York City, Tony's interest in music goes back to his childhood, listening to his parents' favorite singers and big bands. He became interested in playing drums when he received a "Spike Jones" toy drum set for Christmas: an interest he developed playing in the army service clubs and later in many jazz clubs in and around the New York area. He started to sing in one of these clubs about 20 years ago on a dare, and has been singing ever since. With the help of his friend and bass player, John Dooley, they produced his debut CD, "Just In Time". Since the passing of great singers like Frank Sinatra, Nat"King" Cole, Billy Eckstein, Johnny Hartman, Arthur Prysock, Mel Torme, and Sammy Davis Jr. Tony thought a CD celebrating their music was "Just In Time". Before this CD, he had the opportunity and pleasure of singing with many great jazz musicians in New York City. After doing a gig at a club on Long Island with Frank Wess, Frank agreed to appear on this CD. He is now living in the Sarasota/Bradenton, Florida area. Tony sang with Russell Malone, once at "Showman's" on 125th. Street, in Harlem , New York and again at "Smoke", a jazz club on Broadway and 105th. Street, NYC, where he made such a hit with the audience that they kept shouting for more. Right after that experience and with the encouragement of many friends and musicians, he decided to record this CD. One of Tony's other passions is painting, and he loves to tell a great joke.
