The pieces on this album are of great importance. It's a welcome showcard of the limited but nevertheless captivating repertoire for english horn as soloinstrument and in chambermusic.

A long lasting friendship between Miriam Jakes Fournet and Tomasi (via Miriam's' husband the late and great conductor Jean Fournet) creates a special bond with the solopieces. The trio of Tovey is from a musical perspective, erroneously seldom heard, let alone recorded which is unique especially with Marianne Berhrendt on violin. Jacob Bogaart is a great piano player in it's own right and shining here as a marvellous accompanist. Carlo Yvon is a unique composer while the CD starts off with the beautiful en colorful sonata of Hindemith.
