I climbed Mt. Kinpusan, which is located between Yamanashi and Nagano prefectures in Japan. Early in the morning, I went to see the Gojoiwa rock that rests at the top of the mountain. I was so fascinated by its presence that I wrote a song called "Gojoiwa" to express my impressions on the shinobue flute. The view of the mountain range surrounding Gojoiwa is amazing, and I felt a sense of comfort as I was enveloped in the feeling that everything on earth is connected and living together. I love mountaineering, and when I stand at the top of a mountain and feel with my whole body that I am standing on the border between the earth and the universe, I irresistibly want to play the shinobue flute.
