Ludwig Ruth alias Lewis Ruth was one of the most outstanding personalities in the German music scene of the Weimer Republic. It was the so called ''Lewis Ruth Band'' that first performed Kurt Weill's Music for the ''Three-Penny-Opera'', ''Happy End'' and ''Mahagonny''. In 1933 he was forced to drop his English Name and return to his native German name under which he produced again a great amount of outstanding dance records. Ludwig Ruth, who was married to a Jewish wife, left Germany in 1937 heading to South Africa where he died in a bathing accident a few years later. This new album presents 25 tracks produced by the Lewis Ruth - Ludwig Ruth Band between 1931 and 1937.
