"This is an assured step away from the unrefined output of his youth, towards a more musical and elemental approach. I dig this tape. It’s far from groundbreaking, yet it’s abundant grooves keep the piece moving, flowing. He takes the water concept seriously, with dripping synths and muted bass, sometimes coming off like the underwater level in Donkey Kong Country. There’s an element of Kid Cudi’s depressive swagger, mixed in with a healthy dose of New Age smoothness (think Enya after a few blunts). Like Water Vol. I is music for the runway, the solo session and the office all in one; with Fleaux’s eagerness and flair keeping it together. I look forward to future volumes of this series, as I’m sure Fleaux will continue to hone his craft."
