LA Weekly called The Coals "a rare and beautiful thing to behold." The band has opened for Gillian Welch at Largo, shared the stage with Tim Easton and I See Hawks in L.A., and in 2010 released its debut album, “Bring Your Love on Back,” featuring guest performances by Sara Watkins and Patrick Park.
