Son del Sur is a Los Angeles based Charanga ensemble featuring Afro-Cuban percussion, violin, flute, trumpet, guitar and bass. We offer renditions of the traditional Cuban son, charanga, cha cha, cumbia, and other musical styles commonly referred to as salsa. Drawing upon the musical experience and influence of the individual musicians, we create a familiar yet innovative sound blending tradition with the vibrancy of youth and spirit. Our first CD, Musica para resonar el alma, features the musical styles of Son, Guaracha, Cha Cha, Rumba, Guajira and Cumbia. Our music and performances attract a wide range of audiences ranging from music enthusiasts, mature listeners, working professionals, seasoned dancers and fans in the making.
