Tania Saleh is a Lebanese singer/songwriter/visual artist born on March 11, 1969. She has been paving her own path in the independent Arabic music scene since 1990. Her voice is a soft mix between the traditional Arabic music she was raised on and the western sounds she chose to follow. She writes about the daily worries of a troubled society, of love and hate and what’s in between. Her music follows the rhythm of her daily life and mirrors her changing mood, creating a boiling pot of tunes, feelings and love for innovation. Her visual style also helped to create a unique artistic image that made her stand out from the mainstream Arabic music scene. 

 -1990: She graduated from The Lebanese American University, Beirut with a BA degree in Fine Arts. 

 -1992: She graduated from La Sorbonne, Paris with a MA degree in Arts Plastiques. 

 -1993 to 1997: She was an actress in famous Lebanese musician and playwright Ziad Rahbany’s musical and theatrical work. She was a backing vocalist and album cover designer in two cult albums, Fairouz’s “Ila Assi” and Josef Sakr’s “Bema Enno”. She also collaborated with renowned Lebanese musicians Toufic Farroukh, Charbel Rouhana, Iman Homsy and Mounir Khawli in various albums. 

 -2002: She released her first studio album, "Tania Saleh” (an independent co-production with music producer/sound engineer Philippe Tohme). She also wrote the lyrics to Natasha Atlas’ song “Communicate”. 

 -2005: She wrote the lyrics and coached the singer in the title song “Mreyte Ya Mreyte”, in Lebanese director Nadine Labaki’s first feature film "Caramel”. 

 -2006: Hosted by music producer Miles Copeland, she participated in a songwriting musical workshop uniting Arab and American artists (RZA, Nile Rodgers, Charlotte Caffey, Steven Last and others). The result of this workshop was the PBS-produced musical documentary entitled: “Dissonance and Harmony/Arab Music Goes West”) and the songs: "Slow Down" (released on the compilation "Desert Roses 5") and "Had There Been a Dream" (released on the compilation "Bagdad Heavy Metal") both written by Tania Saleh and produced by Miles Copeland. 

 -2010: She was featured in “Next Music Station”, an Al Jazira English produced documentary by musician/filmmaker Fermin Muguruza depicting the modern Arab music scene. The film was screened in Studio 39, New York the next year. 

 -2011: She released her second studio album and a music video entitled "Wehde” (an independent co-production with music producer/sound engineer Philippe Tohme). The album immediately became number 1 on the TOP 10 list of best selling albums at Virgin Megastore, Beirut and accompanied the cry for freedom across the Arab World. She also wrote the lyrics and coached the singers in Nadine Labaki’s second feature film "Where Do We Go Now?” released worldwide the same year. The film soundtrack also made it to number 1 on the TOP 10 list of best selling albums at Virgin Megastore, Beirut and was distributed worldwide. It also won “Best Music Award” in Stockholm International Film Festival and “Le Prix SACEM de la Musique de Film” in Anvers, France. 

 2012: Tania's song "Hsebak Baadein" was included in Lebanese underground music compilation entitled "Radio Beirut” released by German label Galileo. By the end of the year, she released her first live album entitled: “Tania Saleh Live at DRM”, an independent production including unreleased songs performed to a live audience. 

-2002-2014: She performed live in various venues of the world including Byblos International Festival and Beirut Spring Festival (Lebanon), The Opera House and Al Genaina Theater (Cairo), The National Theater of Doha (Qatar), The Roxy (Los Angeles), Arlington World Music Festival (Washington, D.C.), The Odeon Theater (Jordan), Red Zone Music Festival (Norway) and many others. 

 -2014: She released her fourth album, “A Few Images” worldwide in collaboration with Erik Hillestad and KKV, Norway. After the stunning success of her crowdfunding campaign, she was invited to perform at the Baalbeck International Festival. She joined music composer/trumpet player Ibrahim Maalouf on stage as a guest at the Byblos International Festival. Also produced by KKV and Erik Hillestad, Tania was featured as one of the main Arab artists in the alternative music scene in the album “Songs From a Stolen Spring” where she sang a duet with American singer Terry Evans. The album was distributed worldwide by the American label, Valley Entertainment.
