This CD is a collection of beautiful folk songs and poems, from centuries ago, that tell stories of love, life and hope. I have written new music for the songs, not to dishonour the old tunes, but out of a desire to share these with perhaps a newer generation of listeners. One of the songs, ‘Where goes my love’, I wrote a few years ago and I hoped it would nestle well in amongst the other songs. In exploring these folk songs it became clear that no matter what era we come from, we all share in life the common experiences of love and pain, loss and shame, joy and sadness. This is not dependant on where we were born or our social circumstances in life. So at the end of our days, it really matters not what we have achieved in our lives, but how we have gone about it. How we have lived and loved. To that end, I do hope you enjoy listening to these songs as much as I have loved being a part of them.
