He began playing guitar at the young age of 12 where he studied under Guitarist George Yeatman (Professor at Baltimore and Florida Universities). Ben experimented with many different styles of music, ranging from classical, jazz, pop, folk, Alt. Rock and blues. At the age of 19, Ben attended college in Grand Rapids, MI where his friend introduced him to artists such as Nick Drake, Elliott Smith and Jeff Buckley. Mopic and Ben spent the next three months recording and producing Things Left Behind at Freezing Studios in Grand Rapids. This project received airtime on many independent stations including WYCE and was reviewed by the Grand Rapids Free Press. The Free Press stated, Bens sound is reminiscent of Simon/Garfunkel, Elliott Smith, and Nick Drake, we look forward to hearing more out of this young talent.
