简介

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ K U D O S / Dan Engler writes ; " a personal best live performance by Karl Jones recorded by CHICAGO Producer Tim Jessup during a 4 hour concert in Arizona to devoted local fans from the V.A. hospital & firefighters in the crowd add hilarious audience participation moments capturing an energised performance of Irish Rebel songs, covers and a dozen original songs . A custom 8 String acoustic was commissioned addingg fresh resonance to familiar Irish drinking songs . The second disc is called the"White Album" & features a dozen original songs but track 10 is an outstanding U2 cover of "Loveis blindness" off Actung baby , worth the price of entry. An upbeat "Domino" one of two covers written by Van Morrison is the last track on the record . Stellar guitar work demonstrates the artists best freestyle acoustic guitar playing, evocative of Pat Metheny's phrasing. George Benson influences are attributable to "Rick Whitehead", Karls Late jazz guitar mentor, a former guitarist for Sarah Vaughan. Imagine Wes Montgomery mixed with Irish fiddle riffs, then sprinkle leprechaun magic into a comp of "Take Five " by Dave Brubeck that morphs into an original jazz torch song called "Stormy Weather" , (a tribute to T-Bone Walker who wrote "Stormy Monday" ) and the sound of smooth jazz arcs back to a time when Jones played Gibson arch tops regularly in Georgetown during the 90's" at One Washington Circle Hotel downtown D.C. K.J.; "Several songs are traditional Irish "Anti recruiter songs" from the Napoleonic Era (1792 to 1815) and these new arrangements are from songs popularized "in the republic" during "the troubles" in Northern Ireland & were often heard in Irish pubs & protest gatherings during the H-Block prison riots & funerals for the 16 hunger strikers beginning with Bobby Sands. Bobby was the first Republican soldier I knew to die when I was a young boy listening to the news and struggling to understand the meaning of it all while learning guitar in a Dublin suburb called Ballinteer . Those and other political events experienced during my Childhood in Africa & during my education in Ireland would shape my development as an Irish "Muso" indelible. Tommy Makem of the Clancy Brothers wrote "Four Green Fields" which I included in this collection of Irish Pub classics to honour my uncle Ted Killeen a favourite tune of his he sang for me and played Tin Whistle & bodhran as I played guitar regularly at sessúins ". C.C. Sound engineer Tim Jessup notes ; At the time of recording this 39 song Live Double Album opus of Irish pub favorites in 2013, Karl Jones was averaging well over 180 performances a year in pubs and theaters for audiences across the southwest USA. Karl played at Celtic Crossings ( in Prescott AZ the original state capitol in 1916). regularly for a decade, building up a national fan base with support from local & national public radio. By the end of the night there was blood from his fingers on the strings & splattered in the sound hole, drying on the label of his 8-string Taylor!” A must have for fans and Irish ballad collectors.
