"...mellow folk goodness.." - NBC " sweet, philosophical folk songs... an appealing, honest voice," — SF Weekly Ashland based indie folk band Kites & Crows present their new album, More For The Mender, coming out on September 28th. The album is the first full-length collection of songs the trio has released. The songs were self-recorded in the band's home studio. The band's songwriter, Mysha Caruso, performs on vocals, guitars, piano, vibraphonette, drums, bass, percussion, toy piano, chord organ and bowed glockenspiel. Jesse Baldwin plays banjo, accordion, upright bass, dobro, chord organ, harmony vocals, lap steel, and vibraphonette. Nancy Martin delivers cello and harmony vocals and special guest Kimberly Fitch on violin. The album blends rootsy Americana instrumentation with lush chamber folk orchestration. The songs display a spectrum of rollicking Americana pop songs such as " I Could Be The One" and " By Your Side", gritty roots songs like "Rusty Heart" "Little Glass Baby Doll" and a new version of the well known " Paper Chains" to intimate emotional songs like " Can We Start Over Now?" , "Hollow Trust" and " New Way To Believe". The CD, featuring 12 tracks total, was mastered by Bryan Helfrich. Kites & Crows' have performed at West Coast venues such as Mississippi Studios ( Portland) The Can Can ( Seattle) and Amnesia ( San Francisco), the trio has sold hundreds of their self-produced eps which performing alongside bands such as The Decemberists, Horse Feathers, Chatham County Line, Greensky Bluegrass... "... oodles of pretty melodies..." — the Bend Bulletin Singer/songwriter Mysha Caruso started Kites & Crows with multi-instrumentalist Jesse Baldwin on banjo and accordion. Nancy Martin forms the trio on Cello and vintage Vibraphonette. Mysha Caruso attended the Walnut Hill School for the performing arts in Boston as a theatre major but his main focus was in vocal training with teachers from the New England Conservatory. He began to shift his focus to songwriting when he left Boston to travel. His solo troubadour style performance eventually led him to Ashland. The three musicians of Kites & Crows met at the Oregon Shakespeare Festival where they all work. The name Kites & Crows actually is inspired from the production of Coriolanus, where the recently banished battle hero is hiding out "...under the canopy...in the city of kites and crows..." Kites & Crows main fanbase stretches from Seattle to San Francisco at popular venues, local theatres and offer many performances to enthusiastic audiences at wineries and vineyards on the West Coast
