Cillie Barnes grew up at Disneyland. She’s older now and lives in super deep East LA in Happy Valley, El Sereno where she makes music late into the night because she loves the sunrise so much. She enjoys Victorian houses, Cheese, Amphibians, Musty Rose and Murder Mysteries. She answers to Lady Moon and she plays a bunch of RPG’s. She has always wanted to Zipline. And she hopes you feel something when you listen to her music. I wrote "Facework” when I didn’t know what else to write. When it was the only thing I could. I was in Omaha, recording with the beautiful and magical Nate Walcott and Mike Mogis. I wrote a buncha words to a buncha songs on the spot. Cicadas, orange suns, long walks, late night hangs with new friends, were all woven into this tapestry, but Facework specifically is about a time prior to this when I had felt betrayed. I don’t want to give too much away because I want everyone to have their own experience with the song, but it was nice to get this out. Cathartic and necessary to heal and move past. To grow and move forward. And on to the next!
