Drew Nugent arrived in Los Angeles in January, 2016 for the first time not really knowing what to expect. He spent four days in Venice Beach and Downtown LA co-writing with Peter Evans, Shayna Zaid and Cynthia Carle. With Evans as the project curator, they moved as the way opened. Fortunately, there were many openings, moments of growth and discovery, and a purposeful repurposing of music from the swing era of the 1920’s and 1930’s into an exuberant “neo-Swing” for the early 21st Century. Percussionist, Michael Jerome added his magic bonding sauce to the mix during two recording sessions at Votiv Studios with Phil Galloni, newly arrived from Wisconsin, at the controls.
