James Finch's 2013 release, Sum Of The Parts, is a guitar-oriented instrumental rock album, with a focus on composition, melody, and texture. James composed, performed, produced, recorded, and mixed the entire work. Originally inspired by the '70s rock radio waves of Led Zeppelin, Van Halen, and Rush, James started playing guitar at an early age. He studied music theory at American River College in Sacramento, California, and in 1992 released his first instrumental rock album entitled Flashback. In 2011, James began taking guitar instruction from GIT graduate Scott Allen to attain a deeper understanding of harmony and technique. Connecting the dots now from a different perspective in his latest release, Sum Of The Parts.
