简介
Emily Allen started out singing alone in her garage as a little girl because of the great acoustics and solitude. Sneaking in to listen to her brother's band practice as a 5-year-old started her dreams of being a singer. She couldn't help but constantly sing to herself and invent melodies. This grew to an insatiable love of songwriters and vocalists like Joni Mitchell, Ella Fitzgerald, Sarah Vaughn, Patsy Cline, Peter, Paul, and Mary, and Astrud Gilberto. Emily's voice has been described as clear, unique, powerful, and sometimes chilling. The ukulele came into the equation as more of a gimmick than anything. Raised eyebrows and awkward laughs were all too funny to lose out on by being just another guitar-playing-singer-songwriter. Ukulele is passion! Some of Emily's more recent influences are Brandi Carlile, Alison Krauss, The Blow, Mirah, Jason Anderson, Ingrid Michaelson, and Regina Spektor.
