Phil Soussan, bass player/singer/songwriter, has worked with many artists including Ozzy Osbourne, Jimmy Page, Toto, Billy Idol, Vince Neil, John Waite, Steve Lukather, Edgar Winter and Richie Kotzen and with an early version of "The Firm" with Jimmy Page. During those times he was also active in writing songs for them, most notable, Ozzy's biggest hit single "SHOT IN THE DARK", Vince Neil's "EXPOSED" album and Steve Lukather's "LUKE" album. In 2006 he released his debut solo CD entitled "VIBRATE"; a collection of 12 self written songs featuring many of the musicians that he has worked with, as well as Phil playing bass, guitars and vocals. Currently Phil continues to be active in his Los Angeles area in all aspects of music, and travels the world appearing with his metal supergroup - Big Noize (currently featuring Vinny Appice, George Lynch and Sebastian Bach). Phil Soussan is now releasing his brand new solo album entitled "No Protection" as a follow up to "Vibrate", as his first critically acclaimed album on Steve Vai's Digital Nations record label "No Protection" is the culmination of 3 years' work, recording, producing and mixing a collection of 13 songs that were all originally written over a period of about a year. The songs are a reflection of the idea that in life, time waits for no one. "What is unique about this album is that I felt the inspiration to record an album on which I play virtually all of the instruments and perform all of the vocals..." says Phil "...I had always wanted to play all the instruments on a record, ever since I saw McCartney do just that; it was a very tough and tricky thing to do but I have become a better musician for it! I am very proud of this CD" Stylistically it varies from hard edged pop rock to acoustic guitar storyteller ballad, really focused in songwriting, the songs perhaps more connected than "Vibrate"; that album having been more of a compilation of songs from across several eras. Some comparisons have been made to Tom Petty and John Mayer, to the Beatles and even a bit of U2. Outside of the immediate music scene, Phil wanted to get more involved in his industry's representation and put himself up for election to the Grammys as a Board Member. Phil became Chairman of the Advocacy committee, traveling frequently to Capitol Hill to lobby Congress on many issues, and in 2011 he was elected to the prestigious position of Vice President of the Grammys, a position that he still holds.
