简介
October 2014. Band mates Joseph Wells, John Agee met up with Jason Thomson in Joe and John's home town of Kansas City. Together the made the 9 hour drive up to Chicago, IL. to meet up with Drummer Chris Metcalf (The Life and Times) and "Little Creatures" Producers; Allen Epley (Shiner, The Life and Times) and Eric Abert (The Life and Times). Upon arrival, the 4 band mates locked themselves away in the studio (Electronical) for a 10 hour block. They rehearsed (for the first and only time as a full band) the 10 songs that would comprise "Little Creatures". The very next day, as Game 1 the 2014 World Series between The Kansas City Royals and The San Francisco Giants was starting, they began the recording process that would span 8 days and end up being "Little Creatures." "...The sounds get bigger as the album progresses, resulting in high impact with loads of melody made for listening at loud volumes, where weighty rock is effortlessly balanced to give everything a chance to be heard. " - A Higher Revelation "...Little Creatures, the sophomore release from Vast Robot Armies, is an excellent blend of shoegaze and indie rock with some psychedelic accents around the room. With a vocal style that recalls Rob Dickinson from The Catherine Wheel blended onto enormous drums, crunchy guitars, slinky bass lines and reverbed keyboards, the band has constructed a sonic palette that picks up where bands like Radiohead and Fugazi left off in the ‘90s (though not in a derivative way)." - The Even Ground " ...It also showcases the songwriting chops of Vast Robot Armies: the song builds up, launches, stops and builds back up again. This gives the listener a chance to hear the interplay between the drums, bass, guitars, keys and vocals. The arranging and phrasing of the melodic lines, along with the lyrical content fit together like a honeymooning couple: they compliment and feed off each other’s energy, taking you through a rollercoaster of emotional content..." - Bucket List "...This record will keep your head in the clouds wondering where you’re going to end up next...." - The Deli Magazine (New York & Toronto) "...If you like your music to be interesting and not an album full of the same style of songs, then ‘Little Creatures’ is most definitely for you...." - Rock n Roll Creations
