I contacted him, and had the tremendous fortune to work with him, along with his gifted engineer Corin Nelsen. Also, the musicians Glen Velez, T-Bone Wolk, Samite, and Noah Wilding did me the honor of appearing on this record. This music is a dream of mine in the making, and I am happy to share it with you. Please contact me if you would like to be involved, or if I can be of service to you. "From the exuberance of DULCIMER IN G to the intimacy of BALLAD’S melody, LANTERN is a wonderful recording in every respect, filled with grace and surprises. It’s a bonus that Dan Kennedy’s composition and playing doesn’t sound like everyone else’s. One can hear hints of various influences in his work, but his is a distinctive style very much his own. I’m delighted with this recording and am proud to have been a part of it." Will Ackerman Imaginary Road Studios Windham County, Vermont "Hi Dan, I LOVE the CD. It's full of energy, yet very relaxing. I can't wait to play it on the radio next week." Jon Leachman DJ, WMUA radio Dan Kennedy, Composer, Educator, Pianist Email address: dankennedypiano @yahoo.com BIO Dan Kennedy's new age music is a deeply heartfelt exploration balancing energy and stillness. He got his start by tinkering at the piano. Largely self-taught, he has studied classical and jazz piano for good measure. As a teenager in the 1980s he resonated with the carefully produced, but brilliant new age musicians such as Edgar Meyer, Phillip Aaberg, W.A. Mathieu, Montreux, and Will Ackerman. At Oberlin College, he performed frequent concerts of music at the Cat-in-the-Cream Coffeehouse. Seeing the pianist Barbara Higbie play live with Montreux was particularly inspirational, as well. Dan's chamber music has been performed by the Cleveland Chamber Symphony, Essex Chamber Music Players, at the Summer Institute for Contemporary Piano Performance, and at the Aspen Music Festival. He has five chamber works published by Dorn Publications. Currently Dan (a.k.a. Daniel J. Kennedy) is on the Theory & Composition faculty of Westfield (MA) State College. He lives in Amherst, Massachusetts. Member, ASCAP, American Music Center (AMC) & Pi Kappa Lambda. Let it happen. In my role as private composition teacher, I act as a "sounding board" for your musical art. Utilize musical notation, more open-ended charts. I can consult over questions of form, process, and final product. "I've said it before: something happened with your encouragement that started all this [for my daughter] :) Stay cool!"
