简介
Recorded in a beautiful old barn in the countryside of Northern California, “Consolation Prize” is the follow-up to 2008’s “Schoolhouse” CD. Six fantastic tracks that successfully capture the full reach of this group’s musical abilities. From the foot-stompin’ rawness of “Grizzly Bear” to the Dixieland horns and banjo of the title track to the tender plea of “One Drop of Poison” this is a CD for all seasons. The haunting tones of “Hey Cow” invoke images of the buildup to an old western showdown. “Pop Radio”, an unforgiving commentary on the state of popular music, complete with accordion fills and vibrato soaked guitars, will have you instantly chanting its anti-pop theme. Arann offers up his own alternative health care plan on the song “Doctor": “My doctor’s Dr. Seuss… my doctor’s Dr. Pepper…” Fresh and surprising, but somehow familiar, “Consolation Prize” by Arann Harris and the Farm Band is hopefully only a taste of what is to from this strong creative force from Sonoma County. Consolation Prize credits: Arann Harris: Vocals, Acoustic Guitar, Kazoo Chris Vibberts: Electric Guitar, Banjo, Accordion, Slide Guitar, Percussion, Saw, Marxophone, Harmony Vocals Jason Carr: Upright Bass, Hand Claps and Foot Stomps, Harmony Vocals Nick Rupiper: Drums, Hand Claps and Foot Stomps Trombone by Bill Badstubner and saxophone by Phil Stiers on track 6.
