简介
Third Ear releases the new Soul Designer album, Evolutionism from Belgiums Fabrice Lig. Fabrice is considered by his peers & techno fans round the globe as a world-class producer, well known for his funky use of Rolands sh101 analog synth, and his emotional and personal melodies and harmonies. Demonstrations of these skills have appeared on the crème de la crème of techno labels like KMS, 7th City, Playhouse, Kanzleramt, and F-Communications who presented his first outing as Soul Designer. The album title, Evolutionism was chosen by Fabrice to highlight his concern and engagement with environmental issues, particularly the preservation and harmonious management of the environment, recycling and re-use of resources and materials. Many of the tracks on this album, indicated by their titles, are the result of how these modern challenges have affected him personally and been an inspiration to his music-making during the past few years, while this project was in production. Punctuated with HKB:FiNNs thought provoking vox through the album, Soul Designer launches us into the groove with Ecosystem, an effortless and funky affair, followed by one of the albums highlights, his quirky cover of Herbie Hancocks Rockit. And already youre getting a taste of this producers range of skills. This is further proven by his collaboration with the fellow Detroit inspired Ken Ishii, delivering some old skool action on Australow-P-Tek Funk. The slow, measured build up of tracks like Evolutionism and The Soul is Back, illustrate a confident take on music-making that only a producer of Fabrice Ligs technical ability and soulfulness could achieve. While the euphoric strings and musical layering of Children Of Galapagos and Rice From The Young Ghost show plenty of emotion behind the beats and represent a style of tech-funk usually reserved for the legends of Detroit. Closing the album, tracks like DDNA and Molecular Song show off Soul Designers more experimental side, while The Power of the City takes us straight back onto that peak-time techno dancefloor. Soul Designers Evolutionism album is sure to become a classic moment in his career, and a highlight of the Third Ear catalogue.
