Rediscover the joy of 80s pop through your young children when you take a trip in The Space Shuttles’ Dream Machine…. On their debut album, Dream Machine, The Space Shuttles have pioneered a new musical style by blending the distilled hooks of children’s music with the sounds and grooves of 80s pop—creating a new musical genre called EKM (“electronic kids music”) or “Babystep.” While young children will appreciate the catchiness of the melodies and lyrics, as well as the energy of the beats, adults will appreciate the musical references to hits of the 80s—Is that the beat from “Sussudio”? some UB40-style reggae? That synth part sounds like The Human League! From the Icicle Works-meets-Zappa frenzy of “Make Your Bed” to the Buggles-esque “Random Numbers” to the exquisite Kraftwerk of “Lub You, Miss You,” the album is loaded with musical references that will resonate with parents (and maybe grandparents!) who grew up with—or just love—the music of the 80s. Just like classic Looney Tunes cartoons, these songs operate on multiple levels, which makes them great for kids while also being fun and engaging for adults. Whether you’re 7 or 47, there’s something in each song for you. Produced by remixing wizard The Hitmaker and mastered by Grammy-nominated engineer Marcos Sueiro, The Space Shuttles’ Dream Machine will take your kids on a sonic journey to a simpler time when inventive pop sounds ruled the airwaves.
